A quick-drying semi-matte anti-corrosion urethane alkyd primer-enamel. NEOSPRINT 30 is intended for painting outdoor and indoor steel surfaces. Forms a hard, wear-resistant semi-matte coating. Recommended for painting metal structures, production equipment and other objects in cases where a shortened drying time of the paintable surface is needed. Compared to classic alkyd enamels, NEOSPRINT 30 provides accelerated drying, higher coating hardness and abrasion resistance. It may be applied directly on steel surfaces or on surfaces primed with GF-021, RIATOP PRIMER, NOVAKOR, NEOSPRINT PRIMER, VL-02 primers. The enamel is made in both ready-made colour tones and tintable bases – Base A (TAL) (to be used white or tinted in light shades) and Base C (TDL) (to be tinted in dark shades). Tinting is performed in the RILAKOLOR system or in the TEMACOLOR SCALA system.
Stir the primer/enamel thoroughly before use. Dilute to working viscosity with white spirit or VAITSOL solvent if necessary: up to 10% by volume when applied with a roller or brush. Application of enamel by spraying is allowed only in painting facilities of industrial plants and workshops. The same solvents are also used to clean work tools. The air and paintable surface temperature must be between +5 ºC and +35 ºC. The air relative humidity must not exceed 85%. Dirt and corrosion products (rust) must be removed from the steel surface before painting, and the surface must be degreased. If complete cleaning of the surface from corrosion products is not possible, it is necessary to remove the loose layer of rust as a minimum and to perform the maximum possible surface cleaning with abrasive tools such as sandpaper, steel brush, grinding tools, etc. However, it should be noted that in this case the anti-corrosion effect will be slightly reduced. Apply the primer/enamel in 2 coats on clean dry surfaces with a brush, roller, sprayer or airless spray equipment (with a nozzle diameter of 0.011²–0.017²). Drying time of each coat at +20 °C is 5 hours (at +10 °C – 7 hours). Curing time until application of the next coat is 30–60 minutes at +20 °C (or 1–2 hours at +10 °C). If the next coat is not applied within 1 hour at +20 °C (or within 2 hours at +10 °C), the second coat may be applied at the earliest after 7 hours at +20 °C (or 12 hours at +10 °C). The maximum drying time between applications is 7 days. If the next coat of NEOSPRIT 30 needs to be applied after drying for more than 7 days, as well as when applying NEOSPRINT 30 to surfaces previously painted with alkyd enamels, it is recommended to treat the paintable surface with fine sandpaper to improve adhesion between coats. The consumption of primer/enamel per coat depending on its thickness is shown in Table 1. The recommended dry film thickness is 50–70 μm per coat. Store in a tightly closed container, protecting from direct sunlight.
