RIATOP PRIMER, a quick-drying anti-corrosion alkyd primer, is intended for priming steel surfaces exposed to atmospheric influence. Contains effective anti-corrosion pigments. Can be used indoors as a permanent, hard and wear-resistant coating. Produced in 2 shades – white (Base A) and grey. Base A can be used white or tinted in light shades. Alkyd and urethane alkyd enamels (RIATOP, PENTAPRIM, PENTATOP UNIVERSAL) are recommended as top coats after priming.
The paintable surface must be cleaned from rust and dirt, using the abrasive cleaning method, and degreased. The degree of purity of the surface to be achieved is Sa 2½ or St 3. Stir primer thoroughly before use. Dilute to working viscosity with xylene or SOLVEKS SPRINT solvent if necessary: 0–5% by volume when applied with a roller or brush. Application of primer by spraying is allowed only in painting facilities of industrial plants and workshops. The air and surface temperature during application must not be below +5 °C. Air relative humidity must not be higher than 85%. Apply the primer in 1–2 coats on a clean dry surface with a brush, roller, sprayer or airless spray equipment (with a nozzle diameter of 0.011″–0.017″). The drying and curing time until application of the next coats is shown in Table 1. Data on primer consumption for coatings of different thickness are given in Table 2.

* If the next coat of RIATOP primer or enamel has not been applied within the specified time after the first coat, it is only allowed to be applied 6 days after the previous coat.
